This is a vintage plate with artist Brownie Downing's original art work - depicting an Aboriginal child, showing a map of Australia to a selection of native animals. These were popular in the 1950s and 1960s, and remain collectible today.
To keep up with demand, the original artworks were made into ceramic transfers, with the gold rim added afterwards. As such, the signature was not done by hand.
This wall plate has a diameter of approximately 10 cm. There is no string, but the holes are able to be restrung if you wish to hang this on a wall. No chips or cracks. Some rubbing on gold edge, to be expected considering it's age.
